Orientation Week

Since i'm pretty free now for missing the Great Monash Dash, i'm gonna blog abit more.
I guess i should really start adapting to Australia's punctuality.

The Great Monash Dash (something like Amazing Race) starts at 10.30am this morning. Since my house is just 10 mins walk to the uni, i left the house at 10.20am, thinking that it's like Hari Sukan, they might not start that early since so many people are involved.

Sadly, the moment i reached there (which is sharp at 10.30am), they have already started running around the campus. Me and Admund started running along with the groups, too bad, they have already splitted the groups equally, and we missed the introduction.
So much for waking up so early and being 5 minutes late =/
So we ended up jogging back to our warm house in the cold morning.

In Malaysia, if Sports Day is scheduled to start at 8.30am, we most probably start only at 9.30am. If movies are supposed to start at 9pm, we can be late and enter at 9.15pm since there is provision for countless of advertisements. If wedding at scheduled at 7pm, again, they only start at 8.30pm to cater to people from all over the place who gets stuck in traffic jams.

Here in Aussie, if the bus is scheduled to come at 11am, they really appear right in front of the amused Malaysians at 11am sharp. In Malaysia, i experienced waiting for the bus for over anhour and the bus still never comes, causing me to resort to hopping on a 'cut throat' taxi. Why are the systems so different? I guess that explains why Malaysia's motto is "Malaysia Boleh!!"

Anyways, me being pretty much a shopaholic, it's kinda shocking that i havent splurged or even entered any of my favourite shops such at Supre, Sports Girl, Portman etc. I guess i'm using my head more ever since i'm here, seeing that i'm on my own and everything has to go through a good consideration before decisions are made. Plus, i'm gonna prove my parents wrong. Since back home, I'm so stuck in my comfort zone that my parents always doubt how will i manage my life when i'm on my own. I have been on my own in National Service, but this is something bigger since i'm overseas. I'm still amazed i havent suffer from any breakdown ha ha..

Another issue being here is, if you dont keep track on your spending, you can just lose count on how much you actually spent here. Also, my habit when i first arrived was to always convert to RM, which makes everything so not worth it to spend on, and really expensive. But after doing some budgetting and not converting the prices, i guess i can get use to spending on necessary items without feeling bad and guilty for the whole day.

Okay, here are some more pictures on the orientation week. Enjoy!

An introduction to my neighbourhood. Very peaceful and quiet area boohoo..

This is where i live..nothing luxurious. But the rental at this street area are much more expensive although it's in Clayton. Coz it's really near to uni
